Seven Jets players will sit for the start of training camp.

New York placed Quinnen Williams on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list following his offseason foot injury and placed Marcus Maye and Vinny Curry on the non-football injury (NFI) list, according to ESPN’s Field Yates, Ashtyn Davis, Kyle Phillips and rookie Jonathan Marshall will join Williams on the PUP, according to the Daily News’ D.J. Biene-Aime, and Foley Fatukasi was also played on the NFI.

All seven can be activated any time before the season and will count towards the 90-man roster. If any remain on either list when the season begins, they’ll have to miss at least six games.

Williams had surgery in early May to repair a broken bone in his foot and was given an 8-10 week timetable for recovery, meaning he should be taken off the PUP list well before Week 1 on Sept. 12. Davis missed all of OTAs while rehabbing a foot injury he suffered last year.

It’s unclear why Maye, Curry, Phillips, Marshall and Fatukasi were added to their respective lists. Maye will play the 2021 season on his franchise tag after he and the Jets failed to agree on a long-term extension, while Curry joined the Jets this offseason after spending the 2020 season with the Eagles. Curry, Phillips, Marshall and Fatukasi are poised to join the Jets’ vaunted defensive line under Jeff Ulbrich.

The Jets report to training camp on July 27 before beginning practice on July 28.
