The first set of inactives are out for the New York Jets as they get set to take on the Buffalo Bills.

A bit of a surprise for the Jets as defensive end Carl Lawson will not play Monday. The Jets are just keeping him fresh with the short week coming. He should be good to go for Week 2 in Dallas. Jermaine Johnson gets the start on the edge and we could also see plenty of rookie Will McDonald.

RB Israel Abanikanda, who is near return from his thigh bruise in the preseason, is also inactive as are a pair of wide receivers in Jason Brownlee and Irvin Charles. So five receivers will dress, including Xavier Gipson, who is still in the mix to be the main return man.

OT Max Mitchell and LB Zaire Barnes are the other two inactives for the Jets. Chazz Surratt will be one of the backups at linebacker and New York also elevated Sam Eguavoen from the practice squad. Billy Turner is the lone backup at offensive tackle.
