J.J. Watt provided his unique take on the Jets’ new uniforms

The New York Jets officially dropped their new uniforms Monday morning, and an NFL legend has emphatically stamped his approval.

J.J. Watt, the legendary Houston Texans defensive end who was one of the best defensive linemen of the modern era, shared his enthusiasm for the Jets’ “clean and classic” uniforms.

“Clean & Classic,” Watt shared on his official X account (formerly Twitter). “This is what the Jets uniforms should look like. Touché. I do think there is a place for a white helmet, but maybe that’s getting greedy,” said Watt.

Watt’s jersey assessment is correct, as the Jets seem to have completely nailed their redesigned look and feel.

While in a classic style, the new logo works in the modern age. It returns to the team’s roots, showing the “Jet” that honors its namesake for the first time since the mid-1990s.

As Watt said, the uniforms are clean and have a classic feel. They are not overdesigned and do not have the clunkiness that the previous iteration of the team’s jerseys. Instead, the Jets went minimalistic, causing the jerseys to look great in all three iterations.

It remains to be seen what the team’s alternate jersey will be this season, as that will likely be announced later in the offseason, if at all. And with the third alternate helmet being introduced in 2025, the possibility of Watt getting his wish of a white helmet is much higher.

At the end of the day, the Jets’ jerseys ooze a clean and classic feel—thus hitting a uniform redesign home run. Moving past the poor design of recent past, New York has arguably vaulted itself to the top of NFL jersey rankings with its new design.
