Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow says the team would probably want to defer to whatever it is the Buffalo Bills want to do about possibly resuming the currently postponed Week 17 game.

Speaking with reporters for the first time since Monday night’s game was called off in the first quarter after Darmar Hamlin’s injury, Burrow said there are mixed feelings amongst the players about even suiting up for Week 18 against the Baltimore Ravens.

And on the topic of somehow resuming the “Monday Night Football” game that got cut short, Burrow admitted it would be tough to make it work and that it’s all about what Bills players are comfortable doing, as captured by The Athletic’s Jay Morrison:

Burrow said the players are in the dark right now about any sort of rescheduling. But like when he led Bengals captains to the Bills locker room on Monday night, it’s all about following Buffalo’s lead and making sure they know Bengals players are with them on whatever they want to do.

As of this writing, the Bengals will play the Ravens in Week 18 and the Bills will play the Patriots. The NFL has yet to decide how to handle the postponed game, whether it gets waved off as a no-contest, tie or resumed in some fashion. Had the Bengals tied or won Monday night, they would’ve won the AFC North. Buffalo was playing to stay in the hunt for the AFC’s No. 1 seed.

There’s no easy answer that will make everyone happy on the cancellation or rescheduling front, but Burrow has his heart on prioritizing the Bills and what their players want to do in the wake of Monday’s traumatic event.
