Johnathan Cyprien says he’ll retire with Jaguars on Thursday

Former Jacksonville Jaguars safety Johnathan Cyprien says he’ll retire as a member of the team at EverBank Stadium on Thursday.

A Jaguars spokesperson confirmed the event, but said it’ll be a private moment for Cyprien with no media engagement planned.

Cyprien, 33, was the Jaguars’ second-round pick in the 2013 NFL draft and started 60 games in his four seasons with the team. He recorded two interceptions, 10 tackles for loss, and four forced fumbles with Jacksonville.

After his rookie contract expired, Cyprien became a free agent and signed a four-year, $25 million deal with the Tennessee Titan. However, he dealt with a hamstring injury in his first year with the team and missed his entire second season due to an ACL tear.

Cyprien was released by the Titans in 2019 after playing only 10 games for the team and later spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Atlanta Falcons, and San Francisco 49ers. His last NFL game was in November 2020.

In the years since his time in the NFL ended, Cyprien has begun work as real estate investment advisor.
