Andrew Mason not only said that Cushenberry looks better but he’s “the guy” for the Broncos.

Good morning, Broncos Country!

While everyone scores each practice, a positive development has emerged.

And this is one that greatly benefits whomever wins the Denver Broncos quarterback battle. Second-year center Lloyd Cushenberry, per Andrew Mason, looks to be much improved. In fact, Mase added there isn’t a competition there. “Cush is the guy.”

Heading into Broncos training camp, there was some intrigue as to whether Quinn Meinerz could challenge Cushenberry for that starting center position. It was a huge ask for the rookie offensive lineman, but Meinerz arrived out of nowhere to get selected in the third round of the NFL Draft.

The fact Mase is already calling the “battle” is a great sign for Cushenberry, Denver’s offensive line, the offense and, again, whomever starts at quarterback. It’s also another notch in the cap of Broncos offensive line coach Mike Munchack.

It’s no secret that Cushenberry struggled in his rookie season. To look as good as he does so early seems to take away a question mark some had about the Broncos in 2021. While Cushenberry needs to show it in the preseason and, more importantly, in the regular season, this is a positive development for Denver.
