Prepare for Lock vs Bridgewater hype

The Denver Broncos are in the middle of OTAs and we’re already hearing juicy whispers about the quarterback competition between Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater

With no big earth-changing news coming for the Broncos in the form of any high-profile QB being traded for, the bubbling story forming for the team is the quarterback competition.

The rumblings I’ve heard thus far from the Bronco’s early organized activities is that it isn’t as much of a question of if Bridgewater will be named the starting QB for the Broncos heading into the 2021 season, but when.

Yes, they are only OTA’s (which I regularly remind fans that results don’t mean much here as the emphasis for this work is on learning). But even then, we’re hearing a lot about connections between Bridgewater and Jerry Jeudy. We’re also hearing a lot about patented Drew Lock interceptions.

I’m practically chomping at the bit for training camp to get here already to see more definitive evidence on where the players are and, more importantly, what the coaches think of them.

I think my biggest desire for this season’s quarterback competition is for it to be big and obvious to everyone which guy should be #1 and which guy should be #2 on the depth chart.

Six seasons later — after a serious knee injury changed the trajectory of his career — Bridgewater believes he’s returned to that level of play.
