For all the talk about the Denver Broncos reaching, if they had played the trade back game then Bo Nix would be with the Los Angeles Rams in 2024.
NFL Network’s Chad Reuter told Andrew Mason and Cecil Lammey on Orange & Blue Today this week that if the Denver Broncos had played the trade back game in the 2024 NFL Draft then Oregon’s Bo Nix ‘absolutely’ would have gone No. 19 to the Los Angeles Rams at the latest.
For all who think the Broncos could have traded down and still gotten Bo Nix … @chad_reuter of @NFLMedia says, “No,” that wouldn’t have worked.
Why? Because the Rams wanted Nix.
“The Rams were taking Nix at 19. Absolutely, if he was available,” Reuter told @CecilLammey & me. pic.twitter.com/SHxQxEdZSw

Head Coach Sean Payton had talked about his worry over the Las Vegas Raiders when the Minnesota Vikings had jumped to take J.J. McCarthy.
“So we were paying attention to where the Raiders are,” Payton said on the night they selected Bo Nix. “It was a tough 10 or 20 minutes. New York was the team. If New York took a quarterback, we knew then—if the three in the front took theirs, New York would have been the surprise team, and then there’s three waiting for two. Once New York cleared, I’m sure every team we are talking about felt all right. Then Atlanta took a quarterback and that’s the fun part about the draft. You can’t dive into everyone’s draft room to know how they feel about someone.”
It would appear that if not the Raiders, it would have been Sean McVay and the Rams taking Bo Nix at the 19th spot. For all the grief the Broncos got for ‘reaching’ by taking Nix at No. 12, it turns out that if they had listened to the “draft experts” then Denver would be rolling with Zach Wilson as their likely starting quarterback in 2024.
Whew, that would have been interesting, eh? Surely it would have been a movie we had seen many times before over the last eight years.
