Madden NFL 22 hints at cover athletes

EA Sports recently released an ad that features two goats, leading to speculation that Bucs’ QB Tom Brady and Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes will be this year’s cover athletes.
Within the coming days a major question will be answered. Which athlete (or athletes) will be featured on this year’s Madden cover? As it stands now, there has been no official reveal, but EA recently released a teaser video that hints at who might be appearing on the cover.

On the surface, the ad simply features Madden 12 cover athlete Peyton Hillis holding two goats in front of a barn. However, it’s pretty clear that they are hinting at two G.O.A.Ts appearing on this year’s cover.
Who they may be referencing at this point is left completely up to interpretation. Yet, the age difference of the goats has lead many to believe that Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ Tom Brady and Kansas City Chiefs‘ Patrick Mahomes will be featured side by side, a move that the Madden franchise hasn’t made since selecting Troy Polamalu and Larry Fitzgerald a little over a decade ago.
If you want to dig into this a little deeper, Brady appeared on the cover of Madden 18 which had an alternate version, the G.O.A.T. edition. Since Madden has already labeled Brady as the G.O.A.T., how we can believe that they’d go with someone else?
As for the additional goat that appears in the ad, the reason that many are speculating Mahomes is due to his recently acquired nickname, the baby G.O.A.T.
Despite the both of them already appearing on their own respective covers, their recent clash in Super Bowl LV may warrant additional appearances for these two incredibly popular (and talented) players.
While fans of other teams may be upset that [insert player here] won’t be showing up on the cover of Madden NFL 22, there’s no arguing that both Brady and Mahomes have earned the right to appear twice.
