Metrics show Jets’ Quinnen Williams is still excelling despite being double-teamed often

Quinnen Williams has asserted himself as one of the premier interior defenders in the NFL, and that has continued to be the case to begin the 2023 campaign. Despite being double-teamed at such a high rate, metrics show that Williams continues to win his pass-rushing reps often.

The chart indicates that Williams is getting double-teamed on nearly 70 percent of his pass-rushing snaps. Even with that being the case, the All-Pro defensive lineman has a pass-rush win rate that is closing in on 20 percent.

The numbers in the box score haven’t been overly flashy for Williams through the first five weeks. Williams has logged 17 combined tackles, three tackles for loss, one fumble recovery, and half a sack.

When it comes to generating pressure on the quarterback, Williams continues to be a reliable source of production for the Jets. According to PFF, Williams is third in total pressures (20) on the Jets, putting him behind only Bryce Huff (26) and John Franklin-Myers (22).

Some may consider it a slow start to the season for Williams in terms of stats that show up in the box score. At the same time, Williams is still making a massive difference on his pass-rushing reps despite seeing multiple offensive linemen on plenty of plays.
