Saturday Open Thread

Good Morning!

This is your Saturday Open Thread.

On a personal note I have a lot going on at home, the words up here no one reads and my participation have dropped over the last three weeks and will continue for the foreseeable future for this reason. I have been logging in and removing questionable comments however.

Gone Fishin is at a trade show (it’s a paid vacation, tell him I said so when he comes back) so I’ll be posting the open thread through next Sunday. Hopefully the Vikings defense will get their act together and put some pressure on Wilson and Cook can go long enough to be a difference maker on the field.

Around the DN since our last open thread:

2021 NFL Week 3: Seattle Seahawks at Minnesota Vikings.

Norse Code Podcast Episode 387: God’s Chew Toy (with guest Matty F. Brown)

Vikings vs. Seahawks Week 3 Preview: Greatest Hits. The Vikings have already added two tracks to their magnum opus of heartbreak this season. Can they finally stop the music to the tune of a win against the Seahawks?

Skoldiers – 089 – Chicken for Dinner. Minnesota hosts Seattle for the first time in 4 years – can it make a difference?

Viking Hot Takes – Don’t Let Russ Cook. Fast hitting answers to all your Vikings questions from Flip of Climbing the Pocket and Eric of the Daily Norseman.

Vikings news from other sources:

From Vikings.com: Head Coach Mike Zimmer addressed the media from the TCO Performance Center on Friday and Discussed Barr and Cook’s Injuries, Darrisaw’s Progress, Seattle’s Offense and More.

Final Thoughts: Vikings Return Home Desperately Trying to Avoid 0-3 Hole.

Final Vikings-Seahawks Week 3 Injury Report: Cook Questionable; 3 Ruled Out.

NFL Expert Picks: Pundits Project Another Vikings Nail-Biter in Week 3.

Vikings Circle: Patrick Peterson. On the latest episode of Vikings Circle, vikings.com’s Gabe Henderson talked with CB Patrick Peterson to get his thoughts on last week’s game against his former team, the Cardinals, and also to look ahead to Sunday’s home-opener against the Seahawks, a team Peterson has played twice a year for the last ten seasons.

League News:

Lamar Jackson (illness) questionable vs. Lions; four Ravens placed on reserve/COVID-19 list.

NFL seeing more coverage busts? Plus, a fourth-down revolution and my favorite Week 3 projections.

Lamar Jackson deserves to be one of NFL’s highest-paid players; how Bears can help Justin Fields.

NFL Week 3 bold predictions: Chargers drop Chiefs to 1-2; Ezekiel Elliott runs circles around Eagles.

Again, we all know the rules, but in case someone is new:
-No discussion of politics or religion
-No feeding of the trolls
-Leave the gender hatred at the door
-Keep the bad language to a minimum (using the spoiler tags, if you must)
-Speaking of which, if discussing a newer show or movie, please use spoiler tags
-No pictures that could get someone fired or in serious trouble with their employer
-If you can’t disagree in a civil manner, feel free to go away
-While navigating the open thread, just assume it’s sarcasm.
