The team needs some depth at wide receiver

The Minnesota Vikings needed to add some depth at wide receiver with the injury to Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen being limited in practices recently, and the season-ending injury to Bisi Johnson. On Monday, they added to the roster at that spot with a player that could, potentially, have a bit of intrigue.

The team has announced that they have signed wide receiver Warren Jackson. Jackson was a teammate of Johnson’s at Colorado State, where he played from 2017 to 2019 before opting out of the 2020 season because of COVID-19 concerns.

Jackson went undrafted this past April, and had signed with the Denver Broncos in July but was released this past weekend. He had a big 2019 season for Colorado State, as he caught 77 passes for 1,119 yards and eight touchdowns, garnering First-Team All-Mountain West honors in the process.

Jackson is a big receiver, being listed at 6’6” and about 220 pounds. With the issues that the purple are currently having at the position, he should have a solid opportunity to make an impact on the coaching staff over the next couple of weeks.

He’ll get his first chance this week in practices against his former team when the Broncos come to town this week. The Vikings will have two practices against the Broncos on Wednesday and Thursday this week before Saturday’s preseason opener at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Welcome to Minnesota, Warren Jackson!
