Monday Night Football, Week 2. Tonight the Detroit Lions travel to legendary Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin to take on the Green Bay Packers.

The Lions come into the game off a 41 – 33 shootout loss against the San Francisco 49ers last week. Nobody expected much out of the Lions this year after they traded star quarterback Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams for Jared Goff and draft picks. Goff has been a disappointment after being chosen #1 overall in the 2016 NFL draft. The Lions have a couple of decent running backs in De’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams, along with a top tight end in T.J. Hockenson to support Goff, but their wide receivers are among the worst in the NFL. They also have a young defense lacking in high end talent. Overall many expected the Lions to be among the challengers for the #1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft coming into this season. We’ll see if they live up to that billing.

Unlike the Lions, the Packers have a loaded, veteran team featuring a future Hall of Fame quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. They were surprisingly blown out in the season opener against the New Orleans Saints, and they should come into this game breathing fire. With a much better roster than the Lions and a legendary quarterback at the helm, it would be a surprise if the Packers fail to thoroughly whip the Lions tonight. Nonetheless, this is a long standing division rivalry game, and anything can happen. A loss to the Lions tonight would be a devastating blow to a Packers team expected to challenge for a Super Bowl berth.

It’s the Packers and the Lions on Monday Night Football.

Enjoy the game everybody.
