Oh good, another manic Monday

Merry Monday, everyone!

Wow, that was an umimpressive performance on Saturday. Does it mean a whole lot? Not really, but it still wasn’t impressive. Anyone who freaks out after preseason game one is…..insane, BUT you still don’t want to look as horribly as some of the position groups looked on Saturday. Dakota Dozier and Jake Browning did not do theirselves any favors on Saturday, but let’s be honest, nobody in their right mind were expecting either of these two to be pivotal players when the season begins. Both are backups, and neither did anything to improve their position. Dantzler did not do himself any favors, either. The Vikings threw some guys out there to see how they’d do. It was mainly the Vikings backups vs. the Broncos starters, and you could tell.

Bright spots: I thought Mond took a step forward. He didn’t light up the stat sheet, and he’s still a developmental player, but I thought he made some good decisions. He was a questionable call away from throwing a touchdown, and he looked better than Browning, which isn’t saying a whole lot. After Nwangwu was injured early, A.J. Rose got a chance to carry the ball, and he made the most of that opportunity. I would imagine that he moved up the depth chart. Udoh and Breeland also looked good, in my opinion.

I’m sure the doomers are elated today, but I don’t there’s reason to read a whole lot into the game. The Vikings wanted to see where some guys were, and now they know. I’d expect to see some adjustments within the depth chart. The team is 0-1 in the preaseason, which means……..nothing. The sky isn’t falling, I assure you. SKOL!!!!!!!!!

Around the DN since our last open thread:

GASkol has your Vikings preaseason game one recap.

The Vikings made a couple of low-level roster moves, Chris has the details.
