Nick Thurman reverted to injured reserve following the 53-man roster deadline.
The New England Patriots reached an injury settlement with Nick Thurman on Friday, waiving the fourth-year defensive lineman from injured reserve, according to the NFL transaction wire.
Thurman, 26, had been waived with the injury designation at the 53-man roster deadline on Tuesday. He subsequently reverted to New England’s injured reserve after going unclaimed.
The University of Houston product entered the league with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He spent the following April in organized team activities with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before agreeing to terms with the Patriots.
Thurman resided on New England’s practice squad for the duration of the 2019 season. And in 2020, the 6-foot-4, 305-pounder appeared in seven games as both a standard elevation and an active roster member. Those games included Thurman’s first career NFL start. He recorded 10 tackles, including one for loss, over 120 snaps on defense.
Pro Football Focus credited Thurman with four stops and two quarterback hurries during the 2021 preseason.
On Thursday, the Patriots reached an injury settlement with veteran interior lineman Marcus Martin.
