Here are the New York Jets’ ratings for Madden NFL 24

Love it or hate it, each and every year EA Sports releases a new installment in their wildly popular “Madden NFL” franchise. And each and every year, the unveiling of the player ratings captures the attention of the entire NFL community. No other annual tradition better demonstrates how starving we are for football in the middle of July.

The team over at EA Sports is already off to a bad start with Jets fans by snubbing Quinnen Williams from the game’s top-three defensive tackles, but there are still plenty of ratings to dive into before shaping a holistic opinion.

Without further ado, here are the official Madden NFL 24 ratings for the New York Jets’ players, excluding rookies.

Defensive line

As he so often does on the field, Quinnen Williams leads the way for the Jets with a 93 overall rating in Madden 24. Among all defensive tackles, Big Q’s rating sits behind only Aaron Donald of the Rams, Chris Jones of the Chiefs and Dexter Lawrence of the Giants.

While Quinnen himself isn’t necessarily the type of guy to compare himself to others, it’s nevertheless frustrating for fans to see Madden put him behind Lawrence.

Regardless, a 93 overall is nothing to scoff at — in fact, it’s one of the highest in the game, even putting Williams ahead of established superstars at other positions like Tristan Wirfs and A.J. Brown, who have ratings of 92 and 91 respectively.

The next highest-rated Jets defensive lineman behind Williams is John Franklin-Myers, who will start at 83 overall, ranking 20th among all defensive linemen. Next is Carl Lawson (80) followed by free agent addition Al Woods (77) and pass rush extraordinaire Bryce Huff (77). Last year’s first-round pick, Jermaine Johnson, will start with a 73 overall rating — a number that feels bound to increase this season.

Aaron Rodgers

The Jets’ new franchise quarterback will begin Madden 24 as an 86 overall. It ranks eighth among quarterbacks – one spot behind Jalen Hurts and one ahead of Kirk Cousins.

If there’s one rating that’s sure to upset Jets Nation, it’s this one (or maybe the next one). Rodgers is just a year removed from back-to-back MVP seasons and Gang Green just traded what will in all likelihood end up being a first-round pick for him. For his Madden overall to fall in the range of a “B” grade, the folks over at EA Sports must be putting a lot of stock into the down year the 39-year-old had last season with an injured thumb.

The best-case scenario for the Jets is obviously that Rodgers works his rating back up into the 90s this season with his on-field play. With an elite defense and a great receiving core in place, all the pieces are there. It is worth noting that Rodgers is a “Superstar X-Factor” player, so he will have an X-Factor ability in Madden 24. He’s the only Jet that has one.

Cornerbacks

To put it lightly, the Jets’ cornerbacks turned some heads in 2022.

After winning Defensive Rookie of the Year and making first-team All-Pro as a rookie, the entire NFL world (not just Jets fans) became aware of Sauce Gardner and just how good he really is. The folks at Madden, however, evidently still need to see Gardner sustain his rookie-year success before truly crowning him among the league’s very top corners, as many already have.

Still, Gardner boasts the second-highest rating of any Jets player with an 89 overall. Make no mistake, that’s a respectable rating, but Jets fans will surely take issue with the fact that it puts Gardner as only the eighth-highest-rated corner in the game, as opposed to first or second, as his All-Pro status would indicate.

The names ahead of Gardner are Jalen Ramsey (97 overall), Jaire Alexander (95), Marlon Humphrey (93), Darius Slay (93), Tre’Davious White (92), Patrick Surtain II (91), Marshon Lattimore (91), and Stephon Gilmore (90).

With another great season of sustained success, Gardner should have the opportunity to overtake many of these names over the course of the next few months. Madden does, after all, update its ratings each week during the season.

And we can’t forget about Gardner’s ever-underrated counterpart D.J. Reed, who is currently the 27th-rated corner in Madden 24, sitting at an 83 overall. With the Jets’ two outside corners boasting Madden ratings of 89 and 83 respectively, that puts them as one of the better tandems in the game, which is at least one thing for Jets fans to hang their hats on.

Michael Carter II rounds out the starting trio with a 75 overall rating.

Wide receivers

Of course, Sauce Gardner wasn’t the only Jet to win a Rookie of the Year award last season. Garrett Wilson, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year, checks into Madden 24 with an 84 overall rating — fifth-highest on the Jets.

Again, this is bound to feel a bit too low after what Wilson displayed last season as a 21-year-old rookie with bottom-of-the-league quarterback play. The 84 itself isn’t the questionable part; it’s the fact that Wilson is rated below players like Odell Beckham Jr. and Calvin Ridley (both 85 overall) — neither of whom even played a snap last season while Wilson was busy performing as the league’s very best offensive rookie.

As for the other Jets receivers, Mecole Hardman will enter Madden 24 with a 79 overall rating, while Allen Lazard and Corey Davis will each be a 78 overall. Randall Cobb is a 76 overall.

Other noteworthy ratings

C.J. Mosley is the fourth-highest-rated Jet in Madden 24 with an 85 overall. That’s also good for ninth on the list of highest-rated linebackers in the game.

Breece Hall, coming off a torn ACL, will be an 81 overall. His on-field play last season of course warranted a much higher rating, but seeing as the then-21-year-old only played in six full games, an 81 overall feels reasonable for now. A healthy second season from Hall would almost certainly raise that rating considerably.

Somewhat curiously, the highest-rated offensive lineman for the Jets in Madden 24 is left guard Laken Tomlinson at 81 overall. Alijah Vera-Tucker, the actual best player on the O-line, will start with a 79 overall rating. Mekhi Becton, after not playing the past two seasons, is still hanging on to a 78 overall rating with a superstar development trait.

Polarizing young quarterback Zach Wilson will be a 70 overall.
