Next Gen Stats show some interesting facets of the Steelers win over the Seahawks

The Pittsburgh Steelers had some interesting advanced statistics in their Week 6 overtime win.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were victorious in their Week 6 game vs. the Seattle Seahawks, and throughout the game there were many statistics, and story lines, which could describe the 23-20 overtime win.

Anyone can look at the typical box score and get a glimpse of what the game entailed, but the new next gen stats can provide a different view of the game that was.

The NFL, in partnership with Zebra Technologies, is providing weekly next generation statistics on the week that was, and the Steelers had three players who were acknowledged after Week 6.

Take a look at some of these statistics, and where else to start other than quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Ben Roethlisberger had the most completions without an incompletion on passes of less than 10 air yards over the past 6 years, as he went 19-of-19 on short throws vs. the Seahawks.

Steelers fans didn’t need to know Ben Roethlisberger doesn’t tend to push the ball down the field anymore, but the next statistic about rookie running back Najee Harris was rather interesting, especially after how the season started.

Najee Harris was a key part of the Steelers’ offense against the Seahawks, as he carried the ball 24 times for 81 yards and made 6 catches for 46 yards and a TD, including +7 YACOE. Harris was a North-South runner in Week 6, spending the 3rd least amount of time behind the line of scrimmage in Week 6 (2.54 sec).

Lastly, T.J. Watt made the key play at the key time on Sunday night, and the strip-sack of Geno Smith was just one of many Watt has produced since the 2018 season.

The Steelers’ latest win was much needed considering it moved their record back to .500 heading into the Week 7 bye week. They’ll need to improve their game before the team travels to Cleveland to play the Browns in Week 8.
