The Atlanta Falcons have missed the playoffs for six consecutive seasons, and it’s been seven years since they took home their last division title. With a new head coach and good talent on both sides of the ball, the team appears to be a quarterback away from contending.

Many around the NFL think the Falcons will either sign Kirk Cousins, trade for Justin Fields, or draft a quarterback in the top 10. Even with a major question mark remaining at the QB position, DraftKings currently lists Atlanta as the betting favorite to win the NFC South in 2024.

  1. Falcons: +110
  2. Bucs: +260
  3. Saints: +290
  4. Panthers: +1200

The Falcons came close to winning the NFC South each of the past two seasons, but Arthur Smith’s teams never surpassed the 7-10 mark. If the Buccaneers didn’t also have a question mark at QB, they would probably be listed ahead of Atlanta. Baker Mayfield is expected to return to Tampa Bay but it’s still up in the air as we approach free agency.

Some think Mayfield could land in Atlanta if the team doesn’t land Fields or Cousins. In our latest NFL Wire Network mock draft, we have the Falcons selecting Michigan QB J.J. McCarthy with the No. 8 overall pick.

There’s no shortage of quarterbacks for the team to choose from this offseason. It should be an interesting couple of weeks in Atlanta.

  • Falcons take McCarthy in mock
  • Cap casualties ATL should target
  • Falcons’ odds for top QBs
  • Pitts denies Cousins rumor
  • Falcons lineup projection
