Analysts seem to think so, but the Giants might not be able to get him

Here are some of the latest NFL Draft rumors involving your New York Giants.

Schefty: Giants, Vikings are move up teams

The opinion voiced by NFL insider Adam Schefter has been the prevailing thought recently.

SNY: Vikings likely to jump Giants

It seems more and more analysts believe the Giants won’t have enough draft capital to keep the Minnesota Vikings from jumping them for a quarterback.

SNY says:

The Vikings are “believed to be the favorites” to get J.J. McCarthy in the 2024 NFL Draft, per @Connor_J_Hughes

“They’ll have to trade up from No. 11 to jump the Giants, picking sixth, in order to make that happen. Sources believe they are willing to do just that, gifting a quarterback to receiver Justin Jefferson and head coach Kevin O’Connell. The Giants are also in the mix, but aren’t believed to have the excess in resources needed to move up to No. 4 (Arizona Cardinals) or 5 (Los Angeles Chargers), to prevent the Vikings in doing the same.”

Todd McShay: Daniels ahead of Maye

Former ESPN draft guru Todd McShay says his sources have Jayden Daniels of LSU rated ahead of Drake Maye of North Carolina.

Trading down?

Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post believes the Giants would “strongly consider trading down” at No. 6 if J.J. McCarthy is there and the Denver Broncos or Minnesota Vikings want to come up.

My $.02 is that I don’t want to see the Giants pick outside the top 10.

Breer Drake Maye or … Rome Odunze?

Here is how SI NFL insider Albert Breer sees the Giants options at No. 6:

What you need to know: They’ve done all the work on the quarterbacks. They traveled to Chapel Hill to work out Maye, went to Ann Arbor to work out McCarthy and traveled to Seattle to work out Penix. They also had groups at the pro days, and did 30 visits with each. The quarterback I’ve heard them connected to most (by far) is Maye. If they can’t get in position to get Maye, I could see the Giants standing pat and taking a receiver. I’d say this spot is the floor for Harrison. If he’s not there, would the Giants take Washington’s Rome Odunze over LSU’s Malik Nabers? Given that Nabers has a bit of a reputation for being difficult to deal with/coach, and the Giants’ own experience with another LSU receiver that had been like that, I could see it, with Odunze being about as clean character-wise as any prospect in the draft.
