He’s one of many available defensive linemen

Adrian Clayborn was a first round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2011, which was also end up being the last season for Raheem Morris as a head coach. Four years later, both Clayborn and Morris wound up in Atlanta, working for Dan Quinn on the Falcons.

Clayborn spent four of the next five years with the Falcons, returning in 2019 after a one-season stint with the Patriots. Few coaches are as familiar with Clayborn as Morris, now the defensive coordinator of the Rams.

Last season, Clayborn played in 15 games for the Cleveland Browns, totaling 3.5 sacks over his 404 snaps played. He is a rotational veteran without a strong record as anything more than that, and he might not even play in another NFL game again. But Clayborn is also a free agent and it is possible that the Rams will call him eventually, if they haven’t tested the waters already.

This week, Sheldon Richardson signed with the Minnesota Vikings, taking the highest-rated available defensive lineman off the market. There still remain quite a lot of notable names available, including Clayborn.
