NFL teams will be permitted to host fans at training camp

Get ready, Lions fans!
The NFL and the NFL Players Association agreed this week to a new set of COVID protocols for the 2021 season. For fans, the most important details is in regards to training camp. Per a memo leaked by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, teams will be permitted to host fans at training camp for the first time since 2019.
That means, assuming the team wants to fill the bleachers, Detroit Lions fans will get their first look at the Dan Campbell era later this summer by attending training camp practices.
However, there will be some restrictions, per Pelissero. Most notably, fans will have to stay at least 20 feet away from all Tier 1 staff, which includes players. That, unfortunately, means that there will be no direct interaction with players, whereas normally you’d be able to get autographs and photos.
As of now, the Detroit Lions have not announced their training camp schedule, but it is expected to begin at the end of July. There also has been no determination to how many—if any—practices will be open to the public. In the past, that announcement has come in mid-June, so expect news shortly.
