Will the Lions get shut out for the second year in a row, or do they have a case for some players?

Each year, current NFL players vote to determine the top 100 players in the NFL. It’s a list that is constantly mocked, and as Detroit Lions fans, a list that usually doesn’t give our team a whole lot of respect. Last year, the Lions had zero players included on the list. Some may have thought that Matthew Stafford and Kenny Golladay deserved to be on that list, and they probably had a case for it, but now those two are no longer on the roster, so who belongs in 2021?

The NFL’s Top 100 list airs at 4 p.m. ET today on NFL Network where they will reveal numbers 100-40 over the course of six hours. So tune in, if you’re interested.

Today’s Question of the Day is…

How many Lions players belong on the NFL’s Top 100 list?

My answer: Two.

If you paid any attention to our series ranking the top players on the Lions’ roster, then you can probably guess the two that I’m thinking of right away. Each staff member had Frank Ragnow ranked as the No. 1 player on the Lions, and to me it’s not even that close. Ragnow is highly regarded as one of the best centers in the NFL and it’s easy to see why. I expect him to make his debut on the Top 100 list this year.

The other Lion that I believe should make the cut is T.J. Hockenson. He is also near the top of his position (I’d say top four) and had a breakout year in 2020, leading the Lions in nearly every receiving category. Hockenson’s smooth route running and athleticism for his size has allowed him to make a fool out of many linebackers and safeties in the NFL, so I’d expect some of those guys to give him his props and maybe sneak him onto this list.

Your turn.
