The Dolphins find themselves in the middle of the pack while two hated rivals will face the toughest schedules in 2024 according to Pro Football Network.
When all of the 2024 opponents for the Miami Dolphins were set in stone late last season, some fans were up in arms claiming that once again, the club clad in aqua in orange would be playing one of the toughest schedules for the upcoming year.
Well, according to Pro Football Network, that may not actually be the case.
On Monday, PFN released their NFL Strength of Schedule rankings for the 2024 season, and the Dolphins were almost smack dab in the middle of the pack regarding their slate of opponents for the upcoming regular season.
In the AFC alone, Miami was given the seventh easiest strength of schedule — ranking just ahead of the Denver Broncos and just behind the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The bad news for the Dolphins is that their hated division rivals — the New York Jets — were given the fifth easiest strength of schedule in the AFC. However, the silver-lining is that the other two members of the AFC East — the Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots — ranked fifteenth and sixteen respectively, giving them the most difficult schedules in the American Football Conference.
In fact, the Patriots were given the most difficult schedule in all of the NFL — ranking 32nd overall, while the Buffalo Bills had the 31st most difficult schedule. Tough times could be ahead for those two squads if PFN is accurate with their predictions.
Where do the Dolphins rank compared to the entire NFL and not just the AFC? Miami landed at spot number 17 — essentially in the middle of the pack. The Jets clocked in at number 11 overall.
Here’s what PFN had to say about the 2024 Miami Dolphins:
“Few teams lost more talent during the 2024 NFL offseason than the Dolphins, who saw DT Christian Wilkins, G Robert Hunt, EDGE Andrew Van Ginkel, and others walk out the door in free agency.
Miami papered over many of its holes with smart, modestly-priced deals and will now try to win its first AFC East title since 2008.”
Of course, these rankings could quickly find themselves outdated with the 2024 NFL Draft set to begin just one week from Thursday. Rosters around the league will look drastically different in roughly 12 days.
