Field Gulls’ Week 9 predictions and Thursday Night Football: Jets vs. Colts open thread

The Seattle Seahawks have a bye week, which means we get to watch other teams play for the entire weekend!

Week 9 kicks off with Thursday Night Football, and it’s a matchup between the Colts and the Jets. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Indianapolis Colts are comfortable favorites over the New York Jets, with an over/under total set at 46. This comes even after the Jets shocked everyone and destroyed a lot of the Field Gulls Survivor League by beating the Cincinnati Bengals behind quarterback Mike White, who threw for over 400 yards in his first NFL start. The Colts are in desperation mode, having fallen to 3-5 after Carson Wentz did Carson Wentz things, like throw a pick-6 left handed in his own end zone, then throw a normal INT in overtime against the Tennessee Titans.

Indy is three back of the Titans, who don’t have Derrick Henry for potentially the rest of the season, and they’ve been swept by their AFC South rivals and thus don’t have a lot of wiggle room left. They need the Titans to collapse and for themselves to get hot.

Do we have a rooting guide here? Kinda! The better the Colts are, the better the Seahawks’ strength of victory becomes. This is not high on the tiebreakers list but this is essentially our only rooting interest as it pertains to Seattle’s playoff chances.
