Players and media sound off on what Pete Carroll has meant to this franchise.
Pete Carroll is out, and uncertainty is in. Also, the reactions are in and current and former players had a lot to share about their beloved coach. I think you would be hard pressed to find a long-time Seattle Seahawks fan or player who won’t acknowledge the historic run of success that followed Carroll to the city of Seattle. Unparalleled success, to be clear. The National Football League is a fickle mistress, but current and former players took to the social media waves to share their words, thoughts, and memories on their beloved coach. Unsurprisingly, almost every player who has ever played for Pete for a significant amount of time has almost universally positive things to say about him. But what really stands out to me is the level to which players voice their love for the wiliest of wily ol’ coaches. This isn’t just lip service — Pete Carroll was a part of this team, and he will forever be enshrined as the coach who changed Seahawks football forever. The end.
Grateful for you! Fun Celebrating you tonight and all the memories! @PeteCarroll pic.twitter.com/gy5qZMXCae

I’ve had the privilege of being around a lot of incredible coaches in my lifetime. The best ones knew that they were more than just a coach. They knew that they were role models and a significant influence in the lives of the young people they had the honor of coaching.

Coach @PeteCarroll thank you for everything you did for me and for the city of Seattle. You’re one of the best to ever do it. I’ll miss seeing you patrol the @Seahawks sideline in those Air Monarchs.

I appreciate the opportunity all those years ago one Saturday morning w/ a torn ACL,PCL& MCL waiting around for my name to be called on draft day. I get a call from @PeteCarroll & one of the first he tells me is, “There’s no more Ducks & no more Trojans, just Seahawks!” https://t.co/dB2rQBjwPY

One of the greatest mentors of my life. I loved playing for this man and the @Seahawks organization. The culture he created was incredible. He truly lived this message. I learned so much on the field and even more off of it.
Thank you Pete

Hard to believe anyone else will be the hawks head coach. I’m grateful I was able to experience a man like you as my leader. I’ll never forget being wheeled out of a hospital alone at 3 am and seeing you with your wife still waiting to give me a hug. Thank you for everything pic.twitter.com/w9GzuCjVJb

Even a few media members voiced their personal respect for Carroll, like sideline reporter Jen Mueller or former Seahawk Brock Huard.
Impossible to put into words how much I learned from Pete Carroll or how much I enjoyed every interview for the last 14 years.
So until I find the words I’ll just say this – Thank you Pete pic.twitter.com/g6SgLxwEFn

During @PeteCarroll’s 14 years in SEA
(the greatest run in our city’s pro sports history), there have been 122 other NFL head coaches! It’s what coaches sign up for w/the job, but on average, every other NFL team has run through 4 coaches in Pete’s tenure #Winner #ThankYouPete pic.twitter.com/FKSzmFzdHR
