After being a franchise staple for seven-plus seasons, former Tennessee Titans safety Kevin Byard has a new home with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Byard was traded on Monday in exchange for safety Terrell Edmunds and a pair of draft picks, and he arrived at the Eagles’ facility on Tuesday decked out in all green, which is just weird to see for Titans fans.

On Wednesday, Byard revealed how he found out about the trade while also expressing his excitement to return to his home town. He also noted that despite wearing a new jersey, he’ll always be a Titan.

“I got a call from the head coach and [Mike] Vrabel kind of let me know what was going down,” Byard revealed, per Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94 WIP. “Obviously, had a great, wonderful seven-and-a-half years in Tennessee, really enjoyed my time there. I’m always going to be a Tennessee Titan, for sure.

“But going forward, I’m excited to be here, excited to be in Philly, back home in my hometown where I was born and raised at, so it’s an exciting time for me now,” Byard added.

Byard said he’s feeling good coming out of the bye week, and it also doesn’t hurt that he’s going from a 2-4 team to a 6-1 squad that has a legitimate shot to win a Super Bowl.

“This is my eighth season and I’m feeling really good, coming off a bye week, too,” Byard said, per Dave Spadaro of the Eagles’ official website. “I’m definitely feeling fresh right now. This team has a great culture and I’m just looking to add to that. It feels good to wake up 6-1.”
