The Miami Dolphins have never drafted a tight end in the first round, nor a quarterback in the third.

The Miami Dolphins have depth concerns in the trenches, secondary, and at wide receiver — not every issue will be solved in the first two rounds of the 2024 NFL Draft. Miami holds four picks on Day 3 but nothing in rounds three or four.

Inspired by one of the best posts on the website formerly known as Twitter, I thought it would be fun to explore the last time the Dolphins selected every position group in each round.

There are some interesting cases of players being drafted at one position before quickly switching to another like Elijah Higgins going from wide receiver to tight end and Tony Lippett’s transition from receiver to cornerback.

The Dolphins have never drafted a third-round quarterback and unless Brock Bowers plummets down draft boards, 2024 will be the 57th-straight year the franchise doesn’t select a tight end with a first-round pick.

A closer look at the last time the Miami Dolphins drafted 11 different position groups in each of the NFL Draft’s seven rounds.

Smokescreen season is underway with the draft set for 8 p.m. on Thursday. There may not be too much drama surrounding the Dolphins, considering pick No. 21 is too low to cash in on a deal involving a quarterback-hungry team. The franchise also lacks the draft capital to jump into the top half of the first round and select a top offensive lineman.

Let us know what you think — which selections will be replaced by the end of the 2024 NFL Draft?
