Welcome to the first round of the NFL Draft.

It is officially time for the 2023 NFL Draft.

For the New England Patriots, their offseason has been highlighted by remodeling their coaching staff — starting by hiring Bill O’Brien as their official offensive coordinator. What did not get an overhaul was their personnel, which has remained largely the same outside of a few additions on the offensive side of the ball.

Now, New England will turn to the draft in hopes of vastly upgrading their roster. They will have plenty of picks to do so with 11 in their current arsenal. But, with 75 players already on the roster, it may be unlikely they use all of the picks they enter Thursday with.

1-31 Kansas City Chiefs: EDGE Felix Anudike-Uzomah (Kansas State). he world champions finish up Round 1 in front of their home crowd drafting a local prospect. Anudike-Uzomah is a high-motor player who might find early success as a pass rusher in the NFL.

1-30 Philadelphia Eagles: Edge Nolan Smith (Georgia). The Eagles continue to bolster their defensive line with former Georgia Bulldogs. Here, they pick up a dynamite edge rusher in Nolan Smith who lit up the Combine with a 4.39-second 40-yard dash, 1.52 10-yard split, and 41.5-inch vertical — all the best among front-seven defenders in Indianapolis.

1-29 New Orleans Saints: DT Bryan Breese (Clemson). Back-to-back Clemson defensive lineman as the Saints grab an interior rusher. A three-year starter at Clemson, Breese is a big (6-5, 298), powerful defensive lineman that has the ability to play either 3-4 defensive end or defensive tackle.

1-28 Cincinnati Bengals: DE Myles Murphy (Clemson). Murphy was a three-year starter at Clemson who recorded 17.5 sacks in 38 games. He is still raw as a rusher but has natural size, length, and a good overall frame.

1-27 Jacksonville Jaguars: OT Anton Harrison (Oklahoma). A fifth offensive tackle has come off the board. Harrison is an impressive pass protector, whose foot speed and technical proficiency make him a possible Day 1 starter.

1-26 Dallas Cowboys: DT Mazi Smith (Michigan). One of the better defensive tackles in the class, Smith did not put up gaudy numbers for the Wolverines but is a solid run defender with pass-rush upside. One has to wonder, though, whether or not the Cowboys had an eye on just-drafted Dalton Kincaid at 26.

1-25 Buffalo Bills: TE Dalton Kincaid (Utah). We have our first tight end pick of the night. After trading up two spots, the Bills added Dalton Kincaid. While a tad undersized, he flashed great ball skills and yards after the catch ability at Utah.

TRADE: Jacksonville trades No. 25 to Buffalo for No. 27, No. 130

1-24 New York Giants: CB Deonte Banks (Maryland). Seven picks after Christian Gonzalez, another cornerback comes off the board. Banks is one of the top press-man corners in this class, and an impressive athlete as well.

TRADE: Jacksonville trades No. 24 to New York for No. 25, No. 160 and No. 240

1-23 Minnesota Vikings: WR Jordan Addison (USC). After no wideouts were drafted with the first 19 picks, four straight have now come off the board. Addison is another inside receiver who can win in a phone booth, and despite a relatively bad Combine outing could become a productive chain-mover in Minnesota.

1-22 Baltimore Ravens: WR Zay Flowers (Boston College). The run at wide receivers continues at No. 22. The Ravens get one of the shiftiest players in this year’s draft, giving Boston College its first ever first-round draft pick .

1-21 Los Angeles Chargers: WR Quentin Johnston (TCU). The wide receiver run perhaps kicks off as the Chargers add another weapon for Justin Herbert. Johnston is a prototypical X receiver at 6-foot-3 who wins downfield with separation, not jump ball skills.

1-20 Seattle Seahawks: WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Ohio State). After adding a cornerback with their first selection, Seattle takes the first wide receiver of the draft at No. 20. Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a technician of a route runner and has elite short-area quickness. He could catch 100+ balls a year in any offense.

1-19 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: DL Calijah Kancey (Pittsburgh). Kancey is an explosive pass rusher who showcased his athleticism at the Combine when he racked up a 9.6 Relative Athletic Score. He is undersized at 6-foot-1, 281 pounds, but was productive at Pittsburgh piling up 14.5 sacks and 27.5 tackles for a loss over the past two seasons.

1-18 Detroit Lions: LB Jack Campbell (Iowa). The first linebacker off the board. Despite measuring in at 6-foot-5, 249 pounds, Campbell has elite range posting a 9.98 relative athletic score (his three-cone and short shuttle were best among all linebackers at the Combine). He fits the Dan Campbell mold being known for his intelligence, toughness, and tenacious effort at the position.

1-17 New England Patriots: CB Christian Gonzalez (Oregon). The Patriots stay at 17 and take perhaps the best cornerback in the draft. He’s a tall, long corner who is also a strong athlete that helps him blanket receivers outside. Gonzalez has all the traits and upside to be a premier cornerback in the NFL.

1-16 Washington Commanders: CB Emmanuel Forbes (Mississippi State). A boom-or-bust cornerback, Forbes had elite ball production in college with 35 pass breakups and 11 interceptions — returning six for pick-sixes, a FBS record. The former Bulldog measured in at 6-foot-1, but weighs just 166 pounds.

1-15 New York Jets: Edge Will McDonald IV (Iowa State). After adding Jermaine Johnson in the first-round last season, the Jets add another Edge defender in the first-round this year. McDonald is a smaller edge rusher at just 6-foot-3, 239 pounds but is a natural athlete with ideal length.

1-14 Pittsburgh Steelers: OT Broderick Jones (Georgia). Needing help along the offensive line, Pittsburgh moves up to select Broderick Jones. The starting left tackle on Georgia’s back-to-back National Championship teams, Jones has a special blend of athleticism and physicality that certainly flashes when blocking in space.

TRADE: New England trades No. 14 to Pittsburgh for No. 17 and No. 120.

1-13 Green Bay Packers: Edge Lukas Van Ness (Iowa). While he had starting level playing time, Van Ness did not start a game for the Hawkeyes during his collegiate career. He did display impressive speed to power ability as a pass rusher while recording 13.5 total sacks the last two seasons.

1-12 Detroit Lions: RB Jahmyr Gibbs (Alabama). A bit of a wild card, but Detroit adds an electric athlete and dynamic offensive weapon in Jahmyr Gibbs. Last year at Alabama, Gibbs lined up all over the field and led the Crimson Tide in rushing yards, receptions, and receiving yards.

1-11 Tennessee Titans: OT Peter Skoronski (Northwestern). Back-to-back tackle picks, Mike Vrabel adds a talented football player to his offensive line. Skoronski is extremely technically-sound but his lack of length may bump him inside to guard. He’ll succeed no matter where he lines up.

1-10 Chicago Bears: OT Darnell Wright (Tennessee). The second offensive tackle selected, Wright surprisingly comes off the board prior to Broderick Jones and Peter Skoronski. Wright was a four-year collegiate starter and has experience playing both tackle spots. His performance against some of the top SEC pass rushers – including Will Anderson – last season was noticeable.

1-9 Philadelphia Eagles: DL Jalen Carter (Georgia). The Eagles trade up to add another dominant defensive lineman. Carter was considered the best player in the draft for the majority of the college football season, but some off the field issues hurt his draft stock.

TRADE: Chicago trades No. 9 to Philadelphia for No. 10 and a 2024 4th round pick.

1-8 Atlanta Falcons: RB Bijan Robinson (Texas): Atlanta goes best-player-available route at No. 8 and adds the dynamic Texas running back Bijan Robinson. The former Longhorn has every skillset needed to be an elite back in the NFL, while some draft analysts have even gone as far as to call him a “generational” talent.

1-7 Las Vegas Raiders: Edge Tyree Wilson (Texas Tech). The Raiders continue to bolster their defensive line as they add Wilson to team up with Maxx Crosby and Chandler Jones. Wilson is a monster along the outside with a 84 1/2-inch wingspan, 35 5/8-inch arms, and dominant play strength.

1-6 Arizona Cardinals: OT Paris Johnson Jr. (Ohio State). The first offensive tackle off the board, Arizona jumps back up to pick up their top target. Johnson is a prototypical left tackle measuring in at 6-foot-6, 313 pounds with 36 1/8 inch arms.

TRADE: Detroit trades No. 6 to Arizona for No. 12 and No. 34

1-5 Seattle Seahawks: CB Devon Witherspoon (Illinois). Pete Carroll finds another top cornerback for his defense with Seattle’s first first-round selection. Witherspoon is a sticky man-to-man coverage corner who always seems to be making plays around the football.

1-4 Indianapolis Colts: QB Anthony Richardson (Florida). Indianapolis adds their quarterback in Anthony Richardson, who is one of the highest upside prospects in the draft. Richardson has a special combination of size, speed, and arm strength that now pairs up with Jalen Hurts’ old offensive coordinator and new Colts’ head coach Shane Steichen.

1-3 Houston Texans: Edge Will Anderson (Alabama). Ryans and Nick Caserio find a way to add their elite defender anyway, as the Texans trade back up to No. 3 overall for Alabama’s Will Anderson.

TRADE: Arizona trades No. 3 and No. 105 to Houston for No. 12, No. 33 and a 2024 1st and 3rd round pick.

1-2 Houston Texans: QB C.J. Stroud (Ohio State). While many thought new head coach DeMeco Ryans may opt to add to the defensive side of the ball, Houston goes quarterback and takes Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud.

1-1 Carolina Panthers: QB Bryce Young (Alabama). As expected, Carolina grabs Alabama quarterback Bryce Young after moving up to the No. 1 overall pick. Surprisingly, Young becomes the first Crimson Tide player to ever be selected first overall in the NFL Draft.

6:16 p.m. ET: According to NBC Sports’ Tom Curran, the Patriots will not be trading Mac Jones or drafting a quarterback in the first-round of tonight’s draft.

1:49 p.m. ET: NFL insider Peter Schrager believes the Patriots are looking at either wide receiver or defensive edge in the first round.

10:56 a.m. ET: There is a “fair amount of love” in the Patriots’ building for Maryland cornerback Deonte Banks.

10:37 a.m. ET: Matt Groh will meet with the media after both the first and second day of the draft. Bill Belichick will do the same after Day 3 on Saturday.
