The Tennessee Titans will have some tough decisions to make during the 2022 offseason as they attempt to improve their roster after what was a disappointing finish to the 2021 campaign.

Pro Football Focus’ Anthony Treash recently broke down the biggest needs for each team going into the offseason, and for the Titans he lists tight end, EDGE, and guard.

“Tennessee has a glaring hole at tight end entering the offseason. Anthony Firkser, Geoff Swaim and MyCole Pruitt — its three primary tight ends from this past season — are all set to hit free agency. That group was also quite underwhelming this year, ranking 24th of the 32 tight end rooms in combined unit PFF grade. The good news is that this tight-end draft class is loaded, and the Titans won’t need to spend their first-round pick on the position. That 28th overall pick can be saved for an offensive lineman prospect like Texas A&M’s Kenyon Green or an edge defender like Penn State’s Arnold Ebiketie.”

While Treash nails Tennessee’s need at tight end, we don’t think the Titans need to add an edge rusher unless Harold Landry moves on in free agency, which we don’t expect to happen.

Guard is a possibility if the team parts ways with left guard Rodger Saffold, but even then Tennessee looks to have an in-house solution in Aaron Brewer, and Dillon Radunz might also be capable of playing guard.

The only snag there would be if center Ben Jones moves on in free agency, which might necessitate the Titans deploying Brewer in his place. However, we expect Jones to be back, and more so than we expect Saffold.

The bigger need upfront comes at tackle, where the Titans sported David Quessenberry on the right side. Quessenberry was serviceable but he surrendered the most sacks in the NFL, per PFF.

Even still, the Titans could have an in-house solution there as well in Radunz, although he had a shaky first season in the league and the jury is still very much out on him.

Tight end is a lock for Tennessee to address. While MyCole Pruitt, Anthony Firkser and Geoff Swaim did a good job in a three-man rotation in 2022, the Titans could use an upgrade there who is more well-rounded.

Look for the Titans to address that need at some point this offseason, whether it be in the 2022 NFL draft, free agency, or both.

The most glaring needs for the Titans are no doubt at tight end, wide receiver and quarterback, but positions such as offensive line (guard, tackle and center) and EDGE could also get added to the list depending on what happens prior to free agency and the draft.
