Las Vegas could eye multiple Wolverine offensive linemen in the draft

The Las Vegas Raiders have been studying Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy leading up to the draft, yet he isn’t the only player from the national champions that could end up on the Las Vegas offense.

New Las Vegas offensive line coach James Cregg was reportedly at Michigan’s pro day and for good reason. The Wolverines have multiple offensive linemen who are considered solid prospects. The Raiders have needs at both tackle and guard and could end up taking a Michigan offensive lineman whether McCarthy is part of the equation or not.

Here are some Michigan offensive linemen the Raiders could draft:

Zak Zinter:

He likely projects as a guard at the NFL level. He broke his leg in November and missed the NFL Combine. It could affect his draft status, but he could easily go in the second round. He is a great pass blocker and he was a team captain for the Wolverines. He seems like a safe pick. If he is sitting there at No. 77 in the third round, he’d be a strong choice for the Raiders.

Trevor Keegan:

Keegan is a good-sized guard who played a lot of football at a high level. He is known for his toughness and works to the whistle every play. He may not be the most gifted player, but he works hard and and will fight for playing time. He is likely a high-Day Three pick.

Drake Nugent

Drake Nugent

Very strong center who is a smart player. He started 39 games total at Stanford and Michigan. He will play at the NFL level. He could be a good developmental center who projects to be taken in the fifth-sixth rounds.

Trent Jones:

The tackle is also a solid Day Three pick who moves well with good size. There is a lot to like about this player who has potential to be a starting tackle at the next level.

LaDarius Henderson:

He is a big, athletic tackle. He is not overly polished and struggled against pass-rushers at the highest level. He is a project who could be a solid investment late in the draft. Henderson was at Arizona State with Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce and assistant coach Marvin Lewis. That’s something to keep an eye on.

Karsen Barnhart:

He was a versatile lineman at Michigan who likely project as an interior offensive lineman in the NFL. He has decent size but needs to work on his strength at the next level. He could be a practice squad candidate.
