Hall of Fame player helping Mark Davis
An interesting nugget has developed as the Las Vegas Raiders go through their search for a new general manager and then head coach.
Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive lineman Richard Seymour is emerging as a trusted advisor to team owner Mark Davis. Sports Illustrated reported this weekend that Seymour, who ended his career with the Silver and Black, has been part of the interview process for the new general manager.

Seymour is sitting in with owner Mark Davis, president Sandra Douglass Morgan, board member Larry Delsen, SVP Tom Delaney and advisor Ken Herock as the team works through GM and HC candidates.

Out of the above group, Seymour is the lone surprise. It has not been publicly known that he has previously been part of any Raiders’ decision-making areas. He was around the team for games on occasion in the past couple of years.
Seymour, 44, played his four final season of his career with the Oakland Raiders after he was traded in 2009 from the New England Patriots. He played for the Patriots from 2001-08 and was a key figure on three Super Bowl teams.
While Seymour will always be best known as a Patriot, he has told me that he cherished his time with the Raiders. Perhaps this process is an indication that Seymour will have a role with the franchise moving forward.
Having another Hall of Famer around never hurts.
