Las Vegas is studying LSU defensive tackle

Among the draft prospects the Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly having a pre-draft visit with LSU defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo.

Let’s take a closer look at Wingo:

Size:

6-1, 295 pounds.

College highlights:

He played two years at LSU and one year at Missouri. He had 8.5 career sacks. He had 4.5 sacks although he missed several games in 2023.

Traits:

He is not a overly big player, but he is strong and he has room to grow. He is very powerful. He just turned 21 years old. So, there is a lot to like with this player.

How he’d fit in with Raiders:

In addition to his visit, Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce attended Wingo’s pro day (quarterback Jayden Daniels was the headliner), but Wingo turned some heads as well. The Raiders need some depth at the position and will likely draft a defensive tackle. So, the interest in Wingo makes sense.

What’s his draft range?

He is probably a Day Three pick, and he could go in the fourth-fifth round range.
