Las Vegas makes some deals here
We are offering our second full seven-round Las Vegas Raiders mock draft. This one has no trades. I will offer one other full Raiders’ mock this week, that features a huge trade up. We have already done a full mock with no trades this week. Full disclosure: Some players may appear on multiple mocks as we exercise our way up to draft day Thursday:
Let’s get it done:
First round
No. 13: Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold:
He was the choice in our no-trade mock and he remains the guy as the Raiders stay at No. 13. Arnold would be an instant starter opposite Jack Jones and make a very solid starting cornerback group with Jones and nickel Nate Hobbs. The Raiders would be strong at cornerback and bolster an already solid defense.
TRADE: Las Vegas sends No. 44 (second round), a 2025 third-round pick and No. 148 (fifth round) to Baltimore Ravens for No. 30.
No. 30: Washington quarterback Michael Penix:
Boom. There’s the quarterback. The price is reasonable, especially since the Raiders could get a third-round pick back next year if defensive coordinator Patrick Graham or assistant general manager Champ Kelly get promotions elsewhere. If Penix is the answer at quarterback, the price doesn’t matter.
Third round
No. 77: Kiran Amegadjie, tackle, Yale:
The Raiders have been studying Amegadjie and he has big potential. He likely won’t be ready to start this year, but the Raiders can develop him and perhaps he and Penix could grow old together.
Fourth round
No. 112: LSU defensive tackle Mekhi Wingo:
He would be a solid value here and help at a need position. He would be put in a great situation on a veteran line and have a chance to contribute right away for Las Vegas.
Sixth round
No. 208: Travis Glover, tackle, Georgia State:
The Raiders reportedly visited with Glover, who has a chance to be a steal. You can never have enough offensive linemen.
Seventh round:
No. 223: Edefaun Ulofoshio, linebacker, Washington:
The Raiders have studied Ulofoshio and he would be a nice get in the seventh round at a position where they could use some youth and depth.
No. 229: Trey Taylor, safety, Air Force:
The Raiders have shown interest in the Jim Thorpe Award winner and he could be a nice final piece to this draft.
Conclusion:
Didn’t change much from the no-trade mock. Didn’t feel the need. Accomplished the big move with getting Penix. Thought about moving the fourth-round pick, but think Wingo offers great value. Leaving this draft with Arnold, Penix, Amegadjie and Wingo without giving up a whole lot would translate to a winning draft for Las Vegas.
