Defensive tackle missed last week’s game in Denver

The Las Vegas Raiders began the practice week in preparation for Sunday’s home game against the Philadelphia Eagles by getting some positive injury news with the presence of starting defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins.

Hankins missed the Week 6 victory over the Denver Broncos after hurting his hip in the fourth quarter of a home loss to the Chicago Bears the week before. Hankins has started the first 52 games he was a Raider. His presence will help against the Eagles, who are a solid running team. He was limited in practice, but, still, it’s a good sign he was working this early in the week.

It will be interesting to see if Damion Square is active against the Eagles. He was active against Denver for the first time with Las Vegas and had a good game. Fellow defensive tackle Darius Philon was inactive at Denver after playing well earlier this season. It just shows that the Raiders are deep at the position.

Meanwhile, the Raiders officially announced the signing of veteran cornerback Desmond Trufant to the 53-man roster. Trufant, who was cut this month by the New Orleans Saints after playing two games this season, practiced Wednesday. To make room for him on the roster, the Raiders put backup safety and special teamer Roderic Teamer on the injured reserve. He injured his shoulder at Denver.

Also, Raiders interim head coach Rich Bisaccia said third-string tight end Nick Bowers is out this week. Matt Bushman is a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad this week.
