Ranking the quarterbacks’ chances of landing in Las Vegas

It’s no secret the Las Vegas Raiders would love to draft their next quarterback as early as possible in this month’s NFL draft.

It is considered a deep draft, but it won’t be easy for the Raiders to find a top quarterback because there are so many teams that are drafting in front of them that also would like to take a quarterback.

Let’s take a look at the quarterbacks, in order of how we think it’s likely for the Raiders to draft. (This is the likelihood by actual chances not simply the desire of the team):

Michael Penix, Washington:

The momentum seems to be heading this way. Not only does Penix seem to be a fit for the Raiders and is a player they can build around, but they might be able to get to him. There seems to be a solid chance he will be available at No. 13 unless Minnesota (No. 11) or Denver (No. 12) wants him. Also, if the Raiders don’t value Penix at No. 13, perhaps he could be available in a trade later in the first round, second-round or even at No. 44 if he somehow falls that far.

J.J. McCarthy, Michigan:

He might require a trade up, but if the Raiders think he’s the easiest to obtain of the quarterback who would require a trade up, they could make a run at him.

Bo Nix, Oregon:

Like Penix, he could be available at No. 13. It will come down to to preference and he might not even be available. Minnesota or Denver could nab him. So, if the Raiders do like Nix more than Penix (it’s possible), then he could be the choice.

Jayden Daniels

Jayden Daniels, LSU:

It’s been widely assumed (by me as well) that Daniels is a top target of the Raiders. We all know his history at Arizona State with Raiders’ head coach Antonio Pierce and the Raiders have been scouting Daniels heavy. The problem, of course, is they might not get a chance to get him because they are so many teams in front of them that would nab him in a minute as well.

Spencer Rattler, South Carolina, Jordan Travis, Florida State, Michael Pratt, Tulane:

This is a pick-your-choice move on Day 2. if the Raiders can’t get any of the top prospects, they could look at one of these players. It would come down to preference and a case could be made for all three.

Drake Maye, North Carolina:

Maye will likely be taken at the top of the draft and he will be difficult to get. It just seems if the Raiders are going to move way up it would be for Daniels.

Caleb Williams, USC:

It will be a shock if he doesn’t get picked by Chicago at No. 1 and it would be an even bigger shock if the Bears traded the pick.
