Road to regular season begins

After a strong start to the offseason as they key players in free agency, the Las Vegas Raiders are kicking off the journey to the 2024 season by beginning their offseason workout program Monday, starting the first full season under head coach Antonio Pierce.

Pierce led the Raiders to a 5-4 record as the interim coach, taking over for the fired Josh McDaniels on Halloween night. The fiery Pierce was officially given the permanent head-coaching job in January. Today, he gets his players back.

A solid roster returns with star free-agent signing, defensive tackle Christian Wilkins and quarterback Gardner Minshew, who is expected to compete with Aidan O’Connell and perhaps a draft pick for the starting job in training camp.

The offseason program will begin with mostly conditioning and weight room work. The offseason workout program is voluntary. Yet, the team expects most of its players to attend.

The offseason program will ramp up as the weeks go by. The Raiders will hit the practice field in a voluntary minicamp later this month which before the draft starts.

The Raiders will have on-field OTA sessions in May and in June. The team’s mandatory minicamp (all players, including rookies, must attend) will be held June 6-8.

Thus, the road to the regular season begins now.
