Calvin Munson had been signed off New England’s practice squad in 2019.

Calvin Munson signed to the Miami Dolphins’ 53-man roster off the New England Patriots’ practice squad in December 2019. The linebacker will now make a return trip.

Munson, 26, has agreed to join New England’s active roster off Miami’s scout team, according to a report Wednesday from ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound San Diego State product initially signed to the Patriots’ practice squad in 2018 after entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the New York Giants in 2017. His previous stay brought a Super Bowl LIII ring.

On the other side of the AFC East, Munson appeared in 18 games and started two for head coach Brian Flores’ Dolphins. He recorded 16 tackles over that span while logging 123 snaps on defense and 242 snaps on special teams.

Munson had been among four practice squad protections utilized by Miami last week. His signing comes one day after New England placed fellow linebacker and core special-teamer Harvey Langi on injured reserve with an MCL sprain.

The Patriots visit the Los Angeles Chargers for a 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday at SoFi Stadium.
