Report: Seahawks request interviews with a quartet of coordinators

The Seahawks have requested to interview a trio of defensive coordinators and one offensive coordinator according to reports Monday afternoon.

The Seattle Seahawks are on the hunt for their first new head coach in almost a decade and a half, and Monday afternoon reports began to trickle in of the names the team has requested to interview as part of the search.

The first reported name is one with ties to both Pete Carroll and the Seahawks, and is a name that has been heavily linked to the Hawks in the days since it was announced that the team would be moving in a new direction.

Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is not the only defensive-minded coach that the Seahawks have requested permission to interview, as Tom Pelissero is also reporting that the Hawks have requested to interview Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.

Prior to joining the Panthers Evero was the defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos, meaning he has faced the Seahawks in each of the past two seasons. In addition, according to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Hawks have requested to interview Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.

The Hawks have not focused solely on the defensive side of the ball, though, as Pelissero reports that they have also requested an interview with at least one offensive coordinator, and that is Frank Smith of the Miami Dolphins.

It is of note that while Smith has served as the offensive coordinator for the Dolphins for the past two seasons, head coach Mike McDaniel has retained responsibility for calling the plays. That is not uncommon, and several of the other offensive-minded head coaches in the NFL who call plays for their offense include Sean McVay, Zac Taylor, Kevin Stefanski, Shane Steichen, Andy Reid, Mike McCarthy and others.
