Ron Rivera addressing the media. On Chase Young, Rivera said he wants to pay a little more attention on chip blocks, which offenses have done more often this season. Young and Rivera also talked about him diving inside a little too much, which he knows Young is working on.

Rivera said there’s even more pressure on Young now that Montez Sweat will be missing time. He wants Young to go out and be who he is and use his skillset, which he called “tremendous.”

Ron Rivera said the plan today was to see where TE Logan Thomas is at with his hamstring. They planned to really work him today and see how his body reacted to it tomorrow, and if all checks out, he’ll practice Wednesday.

Rivera said there are some things the defense can do to help itself on third downs, most notably having better first and second downs. Too often, Rivera said, the unit found itself in third-and-short situations.

Ron Rivera said CB William Jackson III was dealing with a knee issue in training camp and it flared up recently. He was out in Weeks 7-8 because of the injury, but Rivera said he had a good day of practice today.
