Silver Minings: Daniel Jeremiah has an idea for a Raider home run draft

Analyst gives his best scenario for the Raiders to have a successful draft

The Las Vegas Raiders are getting close to picking at 13. It will be Telesco’s first draft as the Raiders general manager with a chance to make his stamp on the franchise.

This year Telesco has the tough choice of whether to add a young quarterback to the mix. With the team having other needs especially on offense the option to load up is there for the former Los Angeles Chargers GM.

In a recent interview, NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah thought of a scenario that would best fit the Raiders franchise. Being familiar with Telesco covering the Chargers during the season Jeremiah thinks they can get a tackle and quarterback in the first two rounds.

“If you asked me what is the home run draft for the Raiders,” said Jeremiah, the former NFL scout and El Cajon product who’ll be calling his 12th draft for the NFL Network, “and you told me they got (Taliese) Fuaga with the 13th pick and came back in the bottom of the first round and got Michael Penix Jr., I’ll be on the set in Detroit tipping my cap to Tom Telesco and (coach) Antonio Pierce because that’s an ‘everything’s gone perfect’ type of draft for me.”

If the Raiders can pull this off it would be a home run for Telesco. Fuaga is a quality right tackle prospect who fits the scheme and get a quarterback to compete with Aidan O’Connell for the future of the franchise.
