Ahead of rookie minicamp starting on Friday, May 10, Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan addressed the media on Thursday, touching on a number of topics, including quarterback Will Levis and wide receiver Treylon Burks.

Callahan spoke at length about Levis and how pleased he is with the work the second-year signal-caller has put in. And that work has Callahan believing Levis can make the jump in Year 2.

“He’s been great,” Callahan said of Levis. “Really, really happy with the work he’s put in. What he’s learned — there’s a lot of information coming at him, a lot of technical things, a lot of mental things, a lot of physical things as far as fundamentals, techniques, how we teach, what we teach. He’s attacked it with awesome enthusiasm.”

“He’s excited about what’s around him, the players that are on our team, the players that we’ve added,” Callahan added. “I think he’s optimistic about how he can perform and the jump that he can make from his first year to his second year, which you see a lot with players in the league. He got a little taste of action last year, played some, did some good things, did some things he needs to improve on. But, ultimately, he has enough experience to draw back on it and really make the jump and the improvements in the areas that he needs to as a full-time starting quarterback.”

Callahan has also been impressed with Burks, who he envisions having a role. The Titans head coach said they’re going to use him both inside and out. He also noted how Burks shined during practice on Tuesday, which he says is one of the harder days of the team’s work week.

“As far as Treylon’s role, he’s going to play everything,” Callahan said. “We’ve told him that from the beginning. He’s going to play inside, he’s going to play outside, and he’s going to carve out a role for himself. I had him come up today and do the break after practice because his work he’s put in has been really impressive.”

“Treylon, I think, ran 3,591 yards on Tuesday and then hit our team-leading top speed at 22.6 miles an hour in practice,” Callahn added. “So, super impressive workload and performance. He’s had a really good offseason, I’m excited about what he can bring for us. I meant when I said that the other day that I think he’s going to have a role to play.”

Now, a look at what else Callahan had to say on Thursday, including his thoughts on the addition of wide receiver Tyler Boyd.
