The Tennessee Titans reportedly had interest in Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans before he re-signed with the team on Monday morning.

Per The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Titans were one of at least eight teams that hoped to sign Evans, a list that includes the Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Evans was seeking a deal that paid him at least $25 million per season and he ended up getting a two-year, $52 million contract from the Bucs to keep him off the free-agent market.

What this shows is that the Titans are willing to swing for the fences when it comes to adding a wide receiver this offseason. Knowing that, I wouldn’t count the Titans out on any available wideout moving forward.

The free-agent class at wide receiver isn’t great at the moment, so it stands to reason the Titans will be exploring trades as another means to address their need. I’d also expect Tennessee to take at least one wideout in the 2024 draft.

Armed with a ton of cap space, the Titans will have an opportunity to flex their financial muscle when the unofficial start of free agency comes on Monday, March 11, with the beginning of the legal tampering period.
