Titans’ offseason capital ranked among best in NFL

While the Tennessee Titans have a lot of work to do this offseason when it comes to improving their lackluster roster, the good news is they will have ample resources to help their cause.

Per Over the Cap, the Titans are set to be armed with about $64.9 million in effective cap space (the cap space a team will have after signing at least 51 players and its projected rookie class to its roster), the most in the league.

Of course, that figure doesn’t include potential cuts the team can make (see: Andre Dillard).

Adding to their cap space, the Titans have the No. 7 overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft, and a pair of selections in the top 40. What the Titans are missing, however, is a third-round pick.

Pro Football Focus’ Arjun Menon recently ranked each team in the NFL based on their offseason capital (draft picks, effective cap space and proratable money) and the Titans landed in the No. 8 spot.

Of the seven teams in front of the Titans on PFF’s list, two of them has a head coach vacancy: the Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders.

Because of their draft picks, cap space, and having a promising young signal-caller in Will Levis, the Titans have a more positive situation than most for a new head coach to step into, which figures to help their cause in their search for a Mike Vrabel replacement.

And, as a result of that positive situation, it may not be long before the Titans are competing again, but that will depend upon general manager Ran Carthon and Co. pushing the right buttons with their resources.
