Despite the Tennessee Titans already bringing in an upgrade at the tight end position by signing Austin Hooper in free agency, the team could very well add another during the 2022 NFL draft.

One tight end the team appears to be showing a little extra interest in is SMU tight end, Grant Calcaterra, as the prospect recently told Justin Melo of The Draft Network.

“I’ve spoken with a bunch of teams, nearly every team in the league. I’ve heard from the Denver Broncos, Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, and Cincinnati Bengals on a more consistent basis I’d say,” Calcaterra revealed. “I had Zoom interviews with the Broncos and Colts that went well.”

Calcaterra, who has a history with concussions that led to his retiring in 2019, returned in 2021 and totaled 38 catches for 465 yards and four touchdowns.

The SMU product is known for his ability as a pass-catcher, but as The Draft Network writes, he isn’t much of a blocker. The outlet’s Brentley Weissman projects Calcaterra will be selected in the fifth round.

While the addition of Hooper was no doubt a good one, the Titans still need to at least look to the future at the position, as the 27-year-old is only signed for one year. We fully expect the Titans to address that need in the draft.
