Thanks to injury and a lack of production while on the field, the first two years of Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks’ career have been a major disappointment.

Pegged as a potential breakout candidate in 2023, Burks actually took a step back. He had less than half the receiving yards he did in his rookie season and once again missed six games.

As a result of his struggles, the Titans can’t really depend on him for much in 2024, which has helped make the wide receiver position one of the team’s biggest needs to address this offseason.

Ahead of what is a make-or-break year for Burks, the Arkansas product has been workout out with teammate DeAndre Hopkins and other veteran wideouts around the league, something general manager Ran Carthon believes will be good for him.

“I do know Treylon is off this season training with (DeAndre Hopkins) and some others from around the league,” Carthon said, according to ESPN’s Turron Davenport. “Which I think will be good for him to see how other pros prepare and get ready for the season so he can add that to his game. I’ve seen a couple clips of him running routes and doing stuff in the offseason.

“And for him, it’s an offseason where he’s not trying to get healthy. He can work on perfecting his craft as opposed to trying to get healthy.”

While it’s good to see Burks trying something new, it doesn’t do anything to give me more hope he’ll right the ship.

Potentially making things more difficult for him is the fact that the Titans will likely add multiple new receivers between free agency and the draft, which will give Burks added competition for snaps this season.
