In what was the least surprising move ever, the Tennessee Titans announced they have released offensive tackle Andre Dillard, who was due to account for a $10.6 million cap hit in 2024.

Prior to the start of free agency, there was a report that the Titans may hold on to Dillard, which would have been a puzzling move after he was the worst left tackle in the sport in 2023. However, clearly the team decided against that.

It appears the Titans are cutting Dillard before June 1, which will cost $7.7 million in dead money and net the Titans a savings of $2.8 million, according to Over the Cap. Had they opted for the post-June 1 designation, it would have saved more money and cost less in dead cap.

Regardless, this is no sweat off the back of the Titans, who simply couldn’t depend on Dillard for any semblance of a significant role after what they saw in 2023. The hope is that the Titans will land their left tackle of the future in the 2024 NFL draft, and they can still land someone for the role in free agency, whether that be as a stopgap or long-term solution.

Here’s how Titans Twitter reacted to the move.
