You will tear up watching Pete Carroll tear up.

“It’s been an honor and a thrill to be a part of this program.”

Almost 14 years to the day that the Seattle Seahawks announced his hiring, Pete Carroll’s time as head coach is over.

Carroll brought the Seahawks a level of success unmatched by his predecessors: A Super Bowl win, another Super Bowl appearance, 10 playoff appearances, 5 division titles, and more 10+ win seasons (8) than the previous six full-time coaches combined (5).

This is not the end of Carroll with the Seahawks organization—he’ll be in a yet-to-be defined advisory role—but it is still the end of an era. There is no guarantee that better times are ahead, but what we do know is that we’ve had it pretty damn good as fans over the course of 14 seasons.

If you have about 34 minutes of time to spare, you can watch the video of Pete’s final press conference below. There is no way you can avoid being emotionally impacted by watching and listening to Carroll thank everyone and express his deepest gratitude to everyone from his players, his coaching staff, John Schneider, the Allen family, his wife, his sons, and countless others.
