Let’s get the week started!

It’s time to officially start our coverage of Week 9 in the National Football League, as the Minnesota Vikings prepare to take on the Baltimore Ravens. Both teams have put together their first injury reports of the week, so let’s take a look at some of the bumps and bruises on both sides.

Minnesota Vikings

Did Not Participate

  • LB Anthony Barr (knee)
  • CB Cameron Dantzler (ankle)

Limited Participation

  • DT James Lynch (toe)
  • DT Michael Pierce (elbow)

Full Participation

  • WR Dede Westbrook (ankle)

The Vikings also gave “veteran rest days” to Everson Griffen and Harrison Smith for today’s practice.

Pierce is back at practice after missing the last three games with his elbow issue. Hopefully he’ll be able to come back to face his former team this Sunday. The Vikings seem to have settled into a pattern with Barr where he doesn’t practice early in the week and ramps up as the week goes along. Dantzler sitting out the first practice of the week is a bit of a concern given the Vikings’ issues at corner without Patrick Peterson, while Westbrook is back on the practice field after missing Sunday’s game against Dallas.

Defensive end Patrick Jones II, who missed Sunday’s game with a knee injury he suffered late last week, is not listed on the initial injury report.

Baltimore Ravens

Did Not Practice

  • QB Tyler Hundley (illness)
  • OL Patrick Mekari (ankle)
  • RB Latavius Murray (ankle)
  • WR Sammy Watkins (thigh)
  • DT Brandon Williams (shoulder)

Limited Participation

No players listed

Full Participation

No players listed

The Ravens also gave a “veteran rest day” to linebacker Justin Houston.

Baltimore is coming off of their bye week, but they’re still dealing with some injury issues. Watkins hasn’t practiced since Week 5 while Murray, the former Viking, was injured back in Week 6 and missed the Ravens’ last game before the bye week. Mekari is listed as the starter at right tackle but was injured in the Ravens’ loss to the Bengals. Those would appear to be some pretty significant pieces that could potentially be out for the home team on Sunday afternoon.

Obviously, both teams have some situations to monitor before we get to Sunday’s game. We will continue to bring you the injury reports for both teams throughout the course of the week.
