He’s finally back

It was the move that we all knew was coming, but on Tuesday the Minnesota Vikings made it official.

The team has officially activated wide receiver Justin Jefferson to the active roster, ending his stint on injured reserve and putting him in line to return after the team’s bye week. In order to make room for Jefferson on the roster, the Vikings waived wide receiver N’Keal Harry.

Jefferson was injured in the Vikings’ Week 5 loss to Kansas City and was placed on injured reserve the day after. He has missed seven games in total for the Vikings this season, but he will officially be back in the lineup when the team travels to the giant Roomba in the desert to take on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 14.

The team has also released quarterback Sean Mannion from the practice squad. With both Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall recovered from injuries they suffered early in the season, the team will carry three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster so that one can be designated as the emergency quarterback each week. That means there was no longer a reason to use a practice squad spot on Mannion, so that will open up a slot there.

Here’s hoping that Justin Jefferson can be part of the elixir that gets the Minnesota offense back on track after a couple of pretty awful showings over the past couple of weeks in back-to-back losses. The Vikings currently occupy the #7 and final spot in the NFC playoff chase but now, thanks to their losses in their last two games, have a bunch of teams breathing down their necks for that last position.
