It’s still depth at defensive end

Yesterday, we brought you the news that the Minnesota Vikings had claimed defensive end Jonah Williams off of waivers from the Los Angeles Rams in an effort to add to their depth at the position. Unfortunately for Williams, he failed his physical for the Vikings and has since been waived. However, the Vikings have added someone with a bit of pedigree to the practice squad at the position in the wake of this happening.

The Vikings have signed defensive end Nate Orchard to the practice squad.

Orchard has been around the league for a while, having been drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the second round (51st overall) in the 2015 NFL Draft out of the University of Utah. He played his first three seasons with the Browns, and has bounced around the league ever since. He’s made stops in. . .deep breath. . .Buffalo, Kansas City, Seattle, Miami, Washington, Houston, and most recently in Tennessee before signing with the Vikings. Orchard was released by the Titans in May and, as far as I can tell, was not in Training Camp with anyone this past offseason.

For his career, Orchard has collected six sacks, all but one of which came during his time with Cleveland. He also has two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an interception.

Welcome to Minnesota, Nate Orchard!
